Precast Terrazzo uses include but not limited to treads and risers, straight/cove base, pavers, tile, counter tops, benches, etc. We offer a full suite of REVIT and CAD files for your design support. This tread only design conceals the edges of the terrazzo treads. This is a more economical option as the edges of the treads don't need extra finishing. As with any of our full support designs this terrazzo tread design can be set to steel or concrete substrates designed for a maximum deflection of L/360. Please check with us regarding the appropriate thickness for your application.

This terrazzo tread design features a recessed stringer to expose the edges of the treads. This highlights the tread profile when viewed from the side elevation. We recommend the open carriage stair design to be specified with finished edges, thus this design will incur a slight premium due to the extra polishing required. As with any of our full support designs this tread design can be set to steel or concrete substrates designed for a maximum deflection of L/360. Please consult with us regarding the appropriate tread thickness for your application.

Self Supporting Terrazzo Stair Treads

The beauty of a self-supporting tread is a sleek floating design with finished terrazzo on all exposed edges. These treads are engineered with steel reinforcement allowing them to span from stringer to stringer with no support under the tread. The tread thickness will vary based on the span between stringers and some designs may require the addition of a third-stringer. Please contact our sales consultants to review your specific stair design and specify the proper thickness and landing details. The extra finishing and engineering cause this stair design to be more expensive than its full support counterpart.

This design takes the self-supporting tread design to a new level and provides the ultimate floating design by exposing the tread edges. These treads are engineered with steel reinforcement allowing them to span unsupported from stringer to stringer. Tread thickness will vary based on the span between stringers and some designs may require the addition of a third-stringer. Please contact our sales consultants to review your specific stair design and specify the proper thickness and landing details. The extra finishing and engineering cause this stair design to be more expensive than its full support counterpart.

The two terrazzo tread and riser offer a more monolithic stair design. This is an economical and durable option great for schools. The two piece design allows for simple form work but will have a small seam at the bottom of the tread and top of the riser. As with all our tread designs they are customizable so we can produce these treads with an overhang on the tread to produce a different aesthetic. Tread thickness will vary based on the length of the tread we are producing. Full support treads are designed to be set on to a steel or concrete substrate. To accommodate dynamic loading the stair substrate must be designed for a maximum deflection of L/360. The stringer conceals the edges of the treads in this closed carriage design.

The one piece tread and riser is a classic terrazzo stair design. This design is produced in a true “L” shaped unit which eliminates the seam between the tread and riser. Our tread designs they are customizable so we can produce the riser with a ninety-degree angle or a slight taper to produce different aesthetics. Tread thickness will vary based on the length of the tread we are producing. Full support treads are designed to be set on to a steel or concrete substrate. To accommodate dynamic loading the stair substrate must be designed for a maximum deflection of L/360. The stringer conceals the edges of the treads in this closed carriage design.

NON SLIP

NOSING OPTIONS

These are another important component of your terrazzo stair design. The industry standard is non slip nosing using a mixture of epoxy and abrasive. These abrasive lines are embedded into the tread and sit proud of the finished surface to allow for more traction. The line thickness can be varied and the color of the epoxy can be customized.

We also offer metal inserts fabricated from zinc, stainless steel or brass. These strips are epoxied into the tread and can be provided in various gauges and spacing. The metal inserts are a premium option. Please contact our sales consultants for pricing.

NOSING PATTERNS

Line thickness can be varied and the color of epoxy can be customized. If you're interested in a patter that we currently don't we'd be very happy to customize it for you.

LANDINGS

The stair landing is another important element of your stair design. We can produce stair landings in panels or tiles. We recommend panels over tile to minimize grout joints and produce a more seamless appearance. Landings are available in both full and self support and like the treads will vary in thickness based on the size of the panel. Please contact your sales consultant for your specific stair design. PRECAST 
CLADDING

Precast terrazzo may also be used to great a variety of other accessaries such as cladding surfaces. Precast panels are typically fabricated at 1/2" thickness and typically can be produced up to 4'x4' panel sizes. Please contact us for assistance in designing your precast terrazzo cladding elements.

Precast terrazzo truly offers an unlimited color palette. The epoxy resin can be matched to any paint color. Then compliment with your desired selection of aggregate. The sizing of the chips can also be customized. Below are some popular variations of terrazzo colors. Please let us know if you don't find what you are looking for we will be happy to create custom samples. Terrazzo samples are made to order and have a lead time of 10-14 days. If you need something sooner we have an assortment of ready made samples available for quick shipment.
